HOMEGROWN mobile technology solutions provider Macro Kiosk Bhd plans to establish a hub in Dubai for its operations in the Middle East.

Chief executive officer Kenny Goh said Macro has already set up an operation centre in Dubai and plans to open a second one in another part of the Middle East soon.

"We're considering Saudi Arabia or Abu Dhabi, among others," he said in an interview recently.

Goh said the expansion is driven by growing mobile penetration, resulting in a higher demand for mobile technology solutions.

The average revenue per user for mobile technology in the Middle East is high because of bigger spending power and a huge number of foreign workers, he said.

The company, which specialises in mobile services, mobile monetisation and telco operator solutions, has a presence in 14 countries, including China, Australia, Vietnam, the Philippines and India.

Goh said Macro Kiosk plans to expand to another 10 countries by 2015, the same year it expects to establish Dubai as its hub.

Macro Kiosk offers mobile technology solutions in 18 key industries, including aviation, banking and finance, information technology, e-commerce and telecommunications.

For example, text messages regarding warehouse sale, credit card promotions, shopping mall promotions and others can be delivered using Macro Kiosk solutions. Others include mobile banking and online transaction solutions, such as transaction authorisation code and two-dimensional bar code.

"Macro Kiosk also acts as the gateway between users and telco providers in sending and receiving text messages to and from overseas," Goh said.

Macro Kiosk has partnered with 500 telco operators globally with over two billion subscribers.

The company recorded a revenue of RM150 million for its financial year ended January 31 2013.

Goh said the company has seen a 30 per cent to 40 per cent year-on-year growth when it recorded RM115 million and RM80 million in revenue for the corresponding period in 2012 and 2011, respectively.

"This year, we hope to hit RM200 million revenue on the back of our expansion plans."
